Lauren and Scott's Surprise New Years Eve Wedding | Salem, Oregon Wedding Photographer

This is not your traditional wedding. Lauren and Scott decided on Christmas Eve, to surprise their friends and family by having their wedding on New Years Eve, at the party at their house. They had been engaged for quite a while(see their engagement photos here) and had been thinking about a June wedding, but Lauren texted Scott on New Years eve saying "Want to marry me on New Years Eve?" and he responded with "Are you proposing to me?" And so it was decided and the week between the two holidays was spent sneaking around getting things prepared for the secret ceremony. Even Lauren's best friend didn't know, and was surprised that night when Lauren brought her back to the bedroom to help her get into her dress. I had come in through the back earlier and photographed Lauren getting ready. Her cousin playing a song was our cue to come out into the dining room. There was such a feeling of excitement and joy in that house with everyone crowding in to see and holding back tears as Lauren and Scott looked at each other and shared their vows. I loved being a part of this wedding. Here's a bit of the story from Lauren's perspective:

"Scott and I both completed our wedding vows on THE DAY of the wedding and they were absolutely beautiful. My mom walked me down the aisle (hallway)  as my very talented cousin (Josh Wray) played and sang a beautiful rendition of Jason Mraz’ “I Won’t Give Up.” River said “Yes” when Scott was asked if he took me to be his wife and handed us our rings when the time came. Everything was PERFECT! I know when it comes to the norm that Scott and I do things “backwards”, but I am certain now that it was all in preparation for this, the perfect day. Thank you to everyone who was there and my love to those who couldn't be!"
After the ceremony, we popped outside for some quick photos with a few sparklers I'd brought. So glad Lauren and Scott were willing to huddle together in the cold while I ran around them with fire :)

Congratulations you two! I will certainly never forget your wedding and am so glad to have been a part of it!
