I had the opportunity to photograph a crazy cool event this week. Wake Up Salem is unilke any event I'd ever been to or photographed. It started at 6 am, folks arrived at the Yoga Studio in downtown Salem, where they were offered delicious healthy snacks, face paint and Dutch Brother's coffee and then they were ushered into the center of the room where their movement guide Kate Swarm of Kate Swarm Yoga began by giving them some instruction on setting an intention to really feel the experience and to have fun, and then the music and confetti and laser lights built till it was a full blown dance party. The goal was to start off the day with a celebration of movement and really wake yourself up with something wild and fun. I tried to capture the feel of the event by taking lots of long exposures to show the movement and the lights and the joy. Here are some of my favorites from the morning!
